Moreton Island

About 35km from Brisbane in the Moreton Bay Marine Park

Moreton Island is one of the most beautiful spots near Brisbane.
This sand island is often compared to Fraser Island and offers pretty much
the same attractions without the crowds. It is one of the largest sand islands in the world (Mt Tempest, the highest coastal sandhill in the world at the height of 280 metres).
You'll need a 4WD vehicle to explore Moreton Island.

The main attractions of Moreton Island are:

- Dolphins at the Tangalooma Beach

- Snorkeling at the Tangalooma Wrecks
- Whale Watching (June-October)
- Sandboarding
